How do I search for academic journal articles in the library databases?
Answer
You have two options, depending on what type of information you need! Use option 1 if you need to retrieve a variety of journal articles and want to do a basic keyword search for your topic. Use option 2 if you have a specific journal title or subject in mind (ex: Sage Research Methods or Wall Street Journal).
Option 1: Main Database Search Engine: EBSCO EDS
1. Navigate to the library's website by visiting: http://gbc.libguides.com.
2. Next, navigate to the Finding Information: Articles. eBooks, Primary Sources, Reports, Data page, as pictured below.
3. Next, search for books, articles, media, and more in the library's Main Database Search Engine: EBSCO EDS, as pictured below. Note: Full Text articles will be selected by default.
4. Once you enter your search term(s), click Search to see your search results, as pictured below.
5. Once you are on EBSCO's results list, filter your Source Type to Academic Journals to only receive results from academic/scholarly journals, as pictured below.
Option 2: A-Z Database Page
If you have a specific subject in mind such as business, criminal justice, etc. or know the name of the database you want to use, please visit our A-Z databases page for a complete listing of all library databases: https://gbc.libguides.com/az.php
You can use the drop-down menus at the top to search by subject, database type, vendor/provider, or specific name.
