How do I use the Zoom polling feature?

This guide explains how to use Zoom Polling by discussing: 


Prerequisites

  • The meeting must be a scheduled meeting or an instant meeting with your Personal Meeting ID. 
  • Hosts NEED to be using the Zoom desktop client to manage polling. 
  • Participants can use polling on their cellphones. 

Creating a Poll Before your Zoom Meeting

  1. Navigate to where your scheduled Zoom meeting (on Campus Web or through gbc.zoom.us). 
  2. Next, go to your Meetings page to schedule a meeting or to edit a scheduled meeting. 
  3. Next, click on your scheduled meeting. If you do not have a scheduled meeting, schedule a meeting now. 
  4. From the meeting management page, scroll to the bottom to find the Poll option. 
  5. Click Add to begin creating the poll, as shown below. 

     
  6. Enter a title and your first question (a below).
  7. Optionally, you can check the box to make the poll anonymous, which will keep the participant's polling information anonymous in the meeting and in the reports (b below). 
  8. Select whether you want the question to be single-choice or multiple-choice (c below). 
  9. Type in the answers to your question (d below) and click Save (e below). 
  10. If you would like to add a new question, click Add a Question (f below). When creating a new question for that poll, repeat steps 7-9 above.

Launching a Pool During your Live Zoom Meeting

  1. Start the scheduled Zoom meeting that has the polling enabled. 
  2. Next, click Polls in the meeting controls, as shown below. 

     
  3. Next, select the poll you would like to launch.
  4. Click Launch Poll, as shown below. 

     
  5. The participants in the meeting will now be prompted to answer the polling questions. The host will be able to see the results live. 
  6. Once you would like to stop the poll, click End Poll, as shown below. 

     
  7. If you would like to share the results with the participants in the meeting, click Share Results, as shown below. 

Downloading a Report of Poll Results

You can download a report of the poll results after the meeting.

Note: 

  • If registration was turned on and the poll was not anonymous, it will list the participants' names and email addresses. 
  • If registration was not on, the polling report will show the profile names of authenticated users in the same account. 
  • If the poll was anonymous, it will show "anonymous" for the participants' names and email addresses.
